The official kick-off meeting for the MINDFIT project took place in Cyprus on July 22-23, 2025. Hosted by the project coordinator, CYENS Centre of Excellence, the event provided a valuable opportunity for our international consortium to meet in person and collaboratively map out the essential first steps of this transformative journey.
Addressing a critical need in youth sports
The MINDFIT project addresses a vital societal challenge: the mental health and holistic well-being of children involved in sports. By bridging the gap between sports science and psychosocial support, our consortium is dedicated to developing a comprehensive ecosystem of resources. Based on the multidisciplinary expertise of our partners, the project will deliver:
- Innovative educational materials: We are designing specialized educational resources and psychosocial tools tailored for young athletes and their support system (parents, coaches etc.). These materials will equip children with the resilience and skills necessary to navigate mental health challenges within their athletic and daily lives.
- An interactive mobile application: To ensure accessibility, we are developing an age-appropriate mobile app. This digital solution will provide children, families, and educators with direct, on-the-go access to the project’s evidence-based materials and support systems.
- Impact-driven policy recommendations: Our commitment extends to real-world implementation. By assessing the effectiveness of these digital and educational tools, we aim to develop local action plans and policy recommendations that ensure the project’s benefits are both scalable and sustainable.
